The whole trope of “the next generation always surpasses the old” is such an odd thing to me, because frequently that “next generation” reaches a point that seemingly no one could surpass. 

The most notable example is with Naruto. Like, Naruto is effectively a mortal god. There’s no way anyone could become more powerful than him. I dunno, it doesn’t really bother me necessarily, but it does stand out.
