I think one of my favorite things about Spock in the reboots is that the entire reason he joined Starfleet is because people talked shit about his mom.

Like, he was ready to enroll in the Vulcan Science Academy, and then someone was like “it’s pretty impressive you can do this despite the fact that your mom is human” and Spock’s response was like “fuck it, going to Starfleet now. Spock out.”
