You don’t really have to watch the original fate stay night series to watch UBW or Zero. You can avoid the 2006 series and movies and you’ll be crystal 👌

I understand that, but I’ve been told that the best way to experience Fate/stay night is by playing the visual novel. Normally I’d be more than happy to do that, but I don’t really have 50+ hours to invest in that right now. I also know that the 2006 series gives some background that isn’t in UBW, and also that watching Zero before stay night kind of defeats the purpose of it.

I hope this doesn’t come off as me ignoring your input, because I appreciate it, but I think I’m just gonna go with watching it in release order for now.

So I’m watching the original 2006 Fate/stay night and I’m enjoying it, but it’s really slow paced, even during fights and the animation is…not the best. I’m mostly watching so I can watch the other series

Honestly, I expect it’s something really similar to where the next gen came from. A huge world war ended and suddenly people had a lot of free time resulting in a massive population boom. We’ve seen it before in the real world after World War II

As far as I know, Konoha Shinden was never truly confirmed to be part of the canon timeline, but please correct me if there has been an official statement at some point.

Konoha Shinden is in fact canon and actually takes place immediately following 700. The mission that Mirai mentions about escorting Kakashi is actually what leads to the novel, and then there’s a moment in the epilogue where Kakashi is talking to Naruto about the stuff with Sasuke that’s going on.

That I know, but even I could use all the stuff I knew from Naruto 700 and Gaiden to write my own version of the blank period as well by coming up with some plausible connections between events, and this wouldn’t make my version canon either.

I haven’t read Shinden and it doesn’t matter to me either way, but if there is no officially statement that says that Konoha Shinden could be truly considered canon in some way (e.g. influenced by Kishimoto, confirmed by Kishimoto, etc.), I’ll think of it more as neat extra content.

I dunno if there’s an official statement or anything, but I believe the general understanding is that anything written post-ending is canon, especially since it’s very clear where it’s set in the timeline. Also, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t exist without Kishimoto signing off on it or whatever.
