it took me about 2 seconds to figure out who i wanted to be the one that tripped, so basically: rip Eli, the disaster queen of my heart and Walking Gay Tornado Waiting To Happen
The first time Eli saw her, she spilled her coffee onto her binder and had to hastily look away in order to prevent the mess from seeping through into the actual note papers. She succeeded in that regard, even though her notebook would smell like coffee forever now. But still it was disappointing to see that by the time she left panic mode, that pretty girl had left.
Pretty really disappointing, because she sure was stunning.
Beside her, Nico rolled her eyes and grabbed one more paper towel from the stack they’d found to get the last of the mess. “God, Ayase, cover your gay.” She said in a monotone voice, but Eli knew it was playful. “She’ll be here all year – You won’t if you flunk the damn test because your notes got drenched in french roast.”
Eli smiled bashfully. “You’re right, as usual.” While Nico busied herself preening and loudly declaring Eli to be her best ever friend for ‘seeing past her shell of greatness’, Eli rolled her eyes and tucked her notebook away.
The second time, Eli didn’t have any coffee to spill, so her horrible luck apparently decided that, just as her eye got caught by the same, purple-haired girl she had seen a week ago, someone would lose a hold on the tennis ball they had been throwing at their friends, and it would roll under Eli’s step, sending her careening into the ground.

Eli, having spent most of her life in Russia, finds it faster to write in Russian when she has a choice. Despite always being neat when she writes, it’s still absolutely unreadable.
One time Nico stole Eli’s notes because she slept through class and figured, hey, Eli’s smart, she probably takes good notes. She opens the notebook and is horrified to find pages and pages of scribbles.
Nico complained to Nozomi about this and Nozomi just shook her head sadly. This was a lesson she had learned back when they were first years. You can’t trust Eli to write anything.
Eli keeps trying to write official documents for the Student Council and Nozomi won’t let her. Eli protests, saying that her Japanese writing is perfect (and it is). Nozomi refuses simply on principle.
Honoka found Eli’s diary once when snooping through her room. She brought it to Arisa and bribed her with chocolate to translate it. Arisa couldn’t.
Eli’s not allowed to take notes during meetings, which is a shame because no one else can be trusted to do it. This is part of the reason Umi repeats herself constantly during meetings; she knows with no notes that no one will remember anything.
Eli doesn’t think there’s any thing wrong with her writing and gets offended when people say otherwise and ends up spending the rest of the day moping. Nico and Nozomi tell her to just stop writing in Russian, no one could read it even if it was legible. Eli mopes more.
