The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee was enough to wake
Nyx from her slumber and bring her to the kitchen. Though, she was having
second thoughts about if in fact this really was her kitchen.

Coffee mugs littered the table and kitchen counters. Nyx was
sure that five of them didn’t belong to her, as she’s never seen them before,
and her favorite one stood precariously at the edge of the table.

“Corrin…” she began, as she made quick strides to save her
precious mug. “Good… morning?”

He turned his attention from the coffee pot to greet her
with a cheery smile. “Morning Nyx! Did you sleep well?”

Slowly, she nodded. “Uh-huh… erm… Corrin. I can see that you’re
busy at work but, what is all of this?”

“Oh! I wanted to do something special for you, and I know
how much you love coffee, so I brewed some up just for you,” he chirped. “But
uh, I didn’t know how you took your coffee so I tried making different kinds
and –”

“And how many bags of coffee beans did you go through?” She
asked. His cheery smile faltered, and he began to mumble incoherently. “I’m
sorry?”

“T-two…” Corrin managed to say.

Nyx’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Two!? Ah… well that’s the
single most impressive thing I’ve ever seen someone do.”

When Corrin sheepishly scratched the back of his head, Nyx
reminded him that it was nothing to be proud of. “How about we dump these out
since they’ve gone cold. I’ll brew a fresh pot just for the two of us.”

“Thanks… I don’t know where I’d be without you,” Corrin
laughed.

Nyx placed a tender peck on his cheek. “Not in a coffee
house, that’s for sure.”
