Are we gonna talk about this “guard” in the opening cinematic who ain’t do SHIT when my man’s gets blasted out the window??? No running for help, no alerting anyone via radio, nothing. He just doesn’t care lmaoooo.
Like, Blizzard World looks fun and cute and all but I really wish Blizzard released a map that developed the Overwatch world more in its own right rather than basically create this weird meta self-congratulatory map. Like before, the primary easter eggs referencing blizzard were “Fighters of the Storm,” Starcraft-like designs in 16-Bit-Hero, and the odd Murloc here and there, but now this map establishes Blizzard not only as an actual company within the world of overwatch, but one that has grown to encompass the same cultural niche as fucking Disney, which is… wow. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m excited for a new map, but I still wish it was something like Utopaea or Busan or the Vishkar development in Rio—you know, something that could flesh out Symmetra, D.Va or Lúcio more. Like, what did Lúcio’s revolution against Vishkar look like? When D.Va says “The destruction caused by the omnics here, it reminds me of home” what does home look like? Also think of all the cool weird platforming capabilities of a map like Utopaea, which is a city made of hard-light.
Like… I just really wish Blizzard could develop Overwatch’s world more in its own right before bringing in all this weird meta crossover stuff.
zenyatta is so cute i dont understand how some ppl dont feel anything but unabashed love for him?? his peace sign victory pose?? his tickled and taunt emotes??? he fist bumps one of his iris arm things and says stuff like “i win this round genji” with an implicit “>:3c” and says the zen-equivalent of “FIGHT ME” when another zen gives him a discord orb… hes perpetually floating jst bc and wears lil omnic sandals and asks bastion to “tell me your thoughts, my friend” and calls orisa “sister” and his on fire voice line is “i am on fire…but an extinguisher is not required” and responds to zaryas “ive got my eye on u, omnic” with “and i will watch ur back in return :^)”
